It is a well-known fact that for many who want to make important changes in their lives they need a supportive network around them. We have good intentions and introduce what we hope will be a new habit of way of life, but inevitably things happen and get in the way. It is at this stage it is easy to give up, especially if we have not got the right people around us giving the push or support that we need.

If we are lucky, we have friends and family, or possibly a supportive boss. It could be a professional person or mentor who can provide the community of support. Sadly, in some cases there is no one.

That’s where many of our partners provide the support needed in well managed funded programmes. They work with us to train Health Influencers or Community Activators to support local communities specifically around health and wellbeing.

The participants of both programmes do not have to be specifically academic or have amazing fitness, but they must be kind, non-judgemental, non-prejudice and have a positive outlook.

The young and old, all genders, all religions and non-believers, and people with disabilities can have the above traits. There is not a certain type who can or cannot train to be a Community Activator or take part in the Health Influencers qualification.

The content includes behaviour change, listening and communication skills, as well as covering all the benefits of leading healthy lifestyles. The Community Activator includes how to lead a physical activity such as a circuit or walking class.

Ad-Lib Training are proud we play a large part in training people to become the support network in their local communities. Our qualifications are integral to the success of many projects where the objective is to get more people active whatever their situation. We have community activators in prisons, local parks (green gyms), mental health hospitals etc.

In some cases, we have trained the service users as well as the staff, as peer support can be very powerful.

We would like to hear from you if you have a project where you need to train people to help support others in making health and activity changes. Ad-Lib Training are experts in delivering bespoke programmes to meet your project needs.
