Outdoor Gym Training

Ad-Lib Training has a range of training options to maximise community use of outdoor gym spaces. There are three flexible options to meet the needs and budget of the customer.

Ad-Lib Training Outdoor Activator

A one-day course which provides staff/volunteers with the skills and confidence to activate and lead other park and open space users to safely and effectively use the outdoor space and, where present, any TGO outdoor gym equipment. The course focuses on physical activity delivery and ideally staff/volunteers would work under the supervision of a qualified instructor to ensure the terms of the customer’s insurance are met. Course content includes warm up exercises and TGO equipment inductions.

Students will receive an Ad-Lib Training Certificate of Attendance.

Ad-Lib Training Big Community Workout Leader

A one-day continuous professional development course which provides staff/volunteers with the skills and confidence to lead other park and open space users to safely and effectively take part in the Big Community Workout.   The course focuses on physical activity delivery and ideally staff/volunteers would work under the supervision of a qualified instructor to ensure the terms of the customer’s insurance are met.  A pre-requisite for this course is that students must have previous training in physical activity delivery e.g. Outdoor Activator, Level 2 Community Activator, Level 2 Fitness Instructor etc.  Course content includes group leadership skills, session structure, demonstration and technique, progression and adaptation, and opening and closing the Big Community Workout session.

Students will receive an Ad-Lib Training Certificate of Attendance.

Ad-Lib Training Community Activator

A four-day course which leads to an Active IQ qualification in Community Activation. This training provides staff/volunteers with the skills and confidence to encourage other park and open space users to adopt and maintain a healthier and more physically active lifestyle, specifically via the safe and effective use of outdoor gym equipment. Course content includes communication skills to support community volunteers to have helpful conversations with members in the local community that are more likely to lead to longer term uptake and adherence to outdoor gym sessions, coaching and supporting change, barriers and motivators to exercise, assessing an individual's suitability to participate in physical activity, preparing, leading and evaluating a physical activity session.

This qualification is approved through Active IQ.

The unique partnership between The Great Outdoor Gym Company and Ad-Lib Training can revolutionise the use of the customers’ outdoor spaces to ensure they become a successful and sustainable hub for community physical activity for health.
